The University of South Carolina landed another top defensive commitment as four-star SPUR prospect Jordan Diggs has pledged to play football for the Gamecocks.
Diggs also had his eye on Tennessee and Vanderbilt, but the Gamecocks won out the services of the 6-foot-1, 195 pound safety out of Cape Coral, Fla. He also held offers from Michigan State, Nebraska, Auburn, Boston College, UCONN, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisville, Maryland, Minnesota, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Purdue, South Florida, Stanford, UCF, Wake Forest, and West Virginia.
South Carolina had always been in good position for Diggs as his father, Shed Diggs, played linebacker for the Gamecocks It also played in the favor of the Gamecocks that USC targeted the younger Diggs to play SPUR in the 4-2-5 scheme. Having that opportunitity appealed to him as he is a physical player that wants to shine and as the SPUR you get every chance to stuff the run and defend the pass.
Diggs is a four-star prospect according to 247Sports and has a 93 rating. Diggs finished his junior season with 52 tackles and two interceptions. He finished his sophomore season with 63 tackles and three interceptions.
