Gamecocks Basketball: Good, Bad and Ugly with MSU Loss

The South Carolina Gamecocks men’s basketball team faced the Mississippi State Bulldogs last night and lost by the score of 69-67.

Here is the good, bad and ugly….

The Good:
Bruce Ellington led the Gamecocks with 17 points.  Damontre Harris added 14 points and 11 rebounds.  Need that kind of effort each night.

The Bad:
The loss in general as USC had a shot and should have won.  I blame coaching. USC had a 60-58 lead with :24 left in regulation after Anthony Gill canned to free throws.  State tied the game with :10 to play on a pair of free throws by Arnett Moultrie.  The Gamecocks got the final shot of regulation and Ellington missed a short jumper.   Painful.

The Ugly:
USC falls to 10-19 and 2-13 in the SEC.  The Gamecocks have lost their last four games and nine of their last ten.  So it is safe to say USC will end the season in horrible fashion.  The Gamecocks football team won more games than the basketball team.  Enough said.

The Gamecocks conclude the regular season Saturday at Georgia.
