The 2012 season has flown by and we are already at our last home game. This Saturday will be the final game for the 2009 recruiting class, which will go down as the winningest class in South Carolina football history. This senior class has also won the SEC East and knocked off No. 1 Alabama. Wow, all firsts for USC. Not to mention they beat Clemson three years in a row. Fans need to come out and show their support for our Seniors.
As for the No. 9 ranked team in the FCS, the Terriers will bring the "triple" to Willie B on Saturday afternoon.
What you need to know about Wofford's Offense: All you need to know about Wofford's offense is Eric Breitenstein is the real deal. The fifth year senior has rushed for over 5,300 yards and 64 touchdowns while at Wofford. So far this season Breitenstein is averaging 152 yards rushing per game. No other player on the Terrier's team has more then 300 yards rushing on the season, so look for USC to focus on stopping Breitenstein.
As a team Wofford is averaging 33 points per game, 357 rushing yards per game and 50 passing yards per game. They average seven pass plays so don't look for the ball in the air. Expect fullback dives and option runs.
What you need to know about Wofford's Defense: Junior linebacker Mike McCrimon leads the team in tackles with 56, and linebacker Alvin Scioneaux leads the team in sacks with 7.5 on the season.
As a team the Terrior's are allowing 17 points per game, and only giving up 20 touchdowns on the season. Wofford has also allowed 122 rushing yards per game and 197 passing yards per game. They will attempt to contain the USC rush and play a tight zone. USC must show why they are more talented and take the Terriers serious.
What might happen on Saturday: The triple option has always given USC trouble, and I have a feeling this game won't be much different. USC's front seven will need to step-up and slow down the running attack. Just like when playing any smaller school, the depth on the offensive and defensive line will be the difference in the game.
USC will look to open up the offense and look for Ellington and Sanders to both have big games. I would be surprised if we see many of the starters playing in the second half as Clemson is looming.
