“Top Dogs” in Week 2 for Gamecocks: Lattimore and Taylor

cockyThe USC Gamecocks got a great win today vs the SEC East rival University of Georgia Bulldogs.  LOHD will get a full report on thoughts and opinion in due time but until then below is who we thought were the “Top Dogs” —

Offense

Marcus Lattimore — Like you had to guess.  He was a machine kids as Spurrier just kept feeding it. He carried 37 times for 182 yards and scored both of USC’s touchdowns, while also catching one pass for 16 yards.  His 182 rushing yards were the most since Cory Boyd rushed for 160 yards at Tennessee in 2007 and represented the 15th best rushing game by a USC ball carrier in school history.

If he is not the SEC Freshman of the Week then I demand a recount…heck he warrants SEC Offensive Player of the Week in my book.

Defense

Devin Taylor — The sophomore defensive end had 5 tackles (3 for loss) and 2 sacks.  Most important was his crucial third down plays that lead to getting after opposing qb Murray at the right time.  He also had 1 QBH.  He was a force on the end and did a good jump also in coverage at times.

These are the LOHD “Top Dogs” for Week 2; agree?
