South Carolina First Baseman Nick Ebert has been cleared to play by the NCAA. 107.5 The Game reported earlier this afternoon that Ebert has been cleared and will make the trip with the team to Greenville to face East Carolina.
Ebert, a senior, was a second-team All-SEC performer last season with 23 HR and 72 RBI. He also batted .321.
With the addition of Ebert and the imminent return of Jackie Bradley, Jr., the USC baseball team appears poised to have a murders’ row of hitters at the top of their line-up with Bradley, Jr., Ebert, Jeffrey Jones and Christian Walker possibly filling out the 2-5 spots in the line-up. A challenge for Ray Tanner and company will be to get Ebert and Jones in the line-up at the same time since they both play first base. I, for one, am betting we see Nick as the designated hitter most of the weekend.
