Well the first round is over and 32 teams have been sent home from the tournament. If your bracket is pretty much done like mine, then just sit back and enjoy the rest of the tournament. 8 double digit seeds won in the first round, now let’s see how these low seeds do in the 2nd round. Here are a couple things to watch out for today.
1.) Can Ohio continue the miracle run against Tennessee? If you have followed Tennessee basketball this year, you know that they have been very inconsistent all year. It will all depend on which Tennessee team shows up today. Can Armon Bassett the Indiana transfer lead the bobcats past the Vols. I am going to say no.
2.) Upset alert of the day. St. Mary’s over Villanova. Villanova had to go to overtime to win its first round match up against Robert Morris. St. Mary’s looked good against Richmond, and I expect the Gaul’s to continue their good play against Nova.
3.) Game of the Day: BYU vs. Kansas State. BYU outlasted Florida in a double overtime first round match up. If you don’t know who Jimmer Fredette is by now, then you will today. The player to watch for is Michael Loyd Jr., he comes off the bench of the cougars and is playing some of his best basketball right now. Overall I think K-State will win, but BYU is going to give them a game.
Sweet Sixteen, here we come.
