Revenge and 600 is motivation for win vs. Citadel

South Carolina leads the all-time series history 117-46-1 although The Citadel was victorious in both meetings last season against the Gamecocks. The Bulldogs defeated Carolina 12-5 last year in Charleston and earned a 5-3 win in 11 innings at Carolina Stadium last year.

No. 25 The Citadel and No. 14 South Carolina renew their annual series tonight at 7 p.m. at Carolina Stadium in Columbia. The Bulldogs will be looking to win their third consecutive game over South Carolina for the first time since 1961-62.

Besides the revenge factor, another reason to win is Coach Tanner needs 1 win to get 600.  South Carolina head coach Ray Tanner has 599 victories at the helm at South Carolina, one short of 600. His all-time career record is 994-444-3.

Let’s win one for the Coach!

Key is pitching for USC and most important pitching success early.  The Bulldogs have scored in the first inning in 14 of their 24 games this year. The Cadets are outscoring their opposition 24-3 in the opening frame. They have also scored first in 17 games this season.
