Former Gamecock Sheldon Brown now a Brown

Former USC Gamecocks Sheldon Brown was part of a trade Friday that sent him from the Philadelphia Eagles to the Cleveland Browns.

The Eagles and Browns completed a five-player trade, with Philadelphia sending former Gamecock and Pro Bowl cornerback Sheldon Brown and linebacker Chris Gocong to Cleveland for a fourth-round pick (105th), a fifth-round pick (137th) and linebacker Alex Hall.

Seems this may have stemmed from Sheldon Brown making waves last summer when he began griping about his contract. Though his base salary was only $2 million last season, another $1.25 million from his signing bonus was prorated through 2009. However, the guaranteed money has dried up, which only guaranteed Brown would be even unhappier with management this upcoming season.

So rather than make it work it seems the Eagles shipped him off to the Browns.  In Cleveland, he most likely will be a starter but his chances at postseason successes just took a turn for the worse.
