USC Coach Horn Lands Carlton Geathers

USC basketball coach Darrin Horn landed 6-10 Carlton Geathers today according to his mother and other reports, this after his official visit to Columbia.

Geathers, a center who played for Carvers Bay HS, was offered after news of Archie being denied another year as Horn had a scholarship to use this coming year.  Geathers had offers from Jacksonville and Charleston Southern with some other schools showing interest.  But the Hemingway, SC native wanted to follow his cousin and wear the garnet and black at USC.  You may remember Cliffton Geathers, who made a name for himself on and off the field of play as a football standout.  Let’s hope for success from this Geathers family member as well.

Most say that Carlton is a big body that can play down low but will need a redshirt year to develop.  He is in the 250 lb range which will have to be toned up with more muscle than fat to compete in Horn’s up-tempo style.  I think this is a good move for Horn as USC needs some help down low.  It may take some time to develop Carlton but he come be a sleeping giant that could pay off huge for Coach Horn and USC in the future.

This rounds out the 2010 recruiting class, which I must say is very good for Coach Horn and remember is ranked Top 10 in the nation … we wrote about the class below –
