Former Gamecock Adam Everett Released by Detroit Tigers

Some news today out of the MLB today affecting former USC players, former Gamecock Adam Everett was released today by the Detroit Tigers according to John Lowe of the Detroit Free Press.

Everett is known for his defense but it seems that poor offensive numbers caused this latest chapter in his nine year professional baseball career.  This season he was batting .185 and had recently been put on a 10 day minor league assignment as of June 6th.

Detroit shopped him around for a trade opportunity, yet with no takers out there the Tigers decided the “pink slip” route.

I am sure he will sign here soon with someone else in the MLB as a defensive shortstop with the skills of Adam is nice to have on hand despite a suspect bat.
