Jerry Myers Returns To USC to be Pitching Coach

Welcome back to the Gamecocks Baseball program Jerry Meyers.  The now former Old Dominion head coach, Jerry Meyers, has agreed to return to Columbia to take over the pitching coach position he held for eight seasons replacing Mark Calvi, who left to take a head coach in waiting position at South Alabama.

This is a very good hire for Coach Tanner and the program.  It brings back a great coach that knows the program, the area and how to coach pitchers.  Meyers is widely regarded as one of the top pitching coaches in college baseball.

During his eight seasons at South Carolina, Meyers had 20 players sign professional contracts under his watch. Seven more players he either recruited or coached went on to sign professional contracts after his departure.

At ODU he had a record of 167-158.  Meyers was a four year starting pitcher at Iowa State University where he was named to the All-Big Eight conference team his senior season. He was team captain as a junior and senior and was named the team’s most valuable pitcher his senior season.

Meyers received the Bachelor of Business Administration degree in Management from Iowa State and the Master of Education in Physical Education from South Alabama in 1989. His emphasis was in exercise and movement technology.

Welcome back Coach!
