This Gamecocks blog has been asked to participate in a little NCAA basketball polling by our pal at HoopsManifesto.com as he has rounded up some blogs that touch on NCAA men’s basketball to weigh in on who is the best each week.
Every Sunday The Hoops Manifesto and the NCAA hoops writers come together to vote on the four best teams in the country, our Fabulous Four, plus the best team from a non-BCS conference. We present to you the Fab Four Plus One – because who has time to read a list of 25 teams.
We have submitted our ballots of late but failed due to time to post them on our Gamecocks blogging site so below is how we cast our ballots over the last three weeks. They are ranked in order 1-4 and of course, the “plus one” selection.

This is our preseason ballot:
Duke
– Coach K could have his most complete team ever as they are the hands down best on paper going into the new season.
Michigan State
– A well-rounded club that has the fundamentals down to take Izzo to new heights in 2010-2011.
Kansas State
– This team should be fun to watch in how they navigate the season. Got lots of talent but can they put it together each and every night?
Pittsburgh
– Should walk through the Big East but team has a lot to prove in how they do it.
Non-BCS School – Butler
– The media darling has talent and should be the best non-BCS school for the entire season. Key word is should.
Here is our ballot after Week One of play that was posted last Sunday the 14th of November:
Duke
– Loaded with talent,” back door cut” test versus Princeton coming up.
Michigan State
– Honestly, looked better than I thought in their first game. Yes it was EMU but a 30 point win. Test coming with my Gamecocks Tuesday.
Kansas State
– Sluggish start in their Game 1 win but still a strong team with huge upside it seems due to talent level assembled.
Pittsburgh
– Walk in the park in first three games but gut check time with Maryland game coming up soon.
Non-BCS School – Butler
– As long as Hayward can carry the team they should be winning. As offense flows through him.
And here is this week’s ballot:
Duke
– Team is living up to the hype early on in the season.
Pittsburgh
– Solid team and balanced. Just taking care of business.
Ohio State
– Made the Gators look silly in their second game of the season.
Kansas State
– Wildcats temperature will be taken on Monday when they play Gonzaga. Will know what this team is all about and that can be said for both.
Non-BCS School – San Diego State
– Beat the ‘Zags and now the attention is on them.
So do you guys agree with my votes?
