Life is a journey they say and for the former South Carolina basketball star Carlos Powell it truly is. He has now taken his basketball services to Iran to give hoops a try there. He is currently playing for Zob Ahan, a professional team that is based in Isfahan, Iran, and competes in the Iranian Basketball Super League.
Powell last season played in the NBA Development League for the Albuquerque Thunderbirds after being the first pick of the league’s draft. While in the NBA D-Legaue, he played in 33 games and averaged 22.1 ppg, 5 rpg, 5 apg and 1.6 spg. In February 2010, he took his game to China by signing a deal with Liaoning Panpan Hunters. There he played in seven games and averaged 20.7 points, 4.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists. Then in the summer of 201 he took his game to play for the New York Summer League team.
One thing is for certain is he is grinding and gaining loads of experience. He deserves a chance in the NBA and I feel a team that takes that chance will not be sorry.
