Former South Carolina infielder Steven Tolleson was designated for assignment by the Oakland A’s this week. This was done to make room for relief pitcher Brian Fuentes who was recently signed by the A’s.
This is not good for Tolleson, 27, as it seemed he was primed to make the 25 man roster until this happened. As someone, who has been cheering for Tolleson since his Dorman days…this sucks. We wish him the best and know he will bounce back as he has too much talent.
So what is next….well…Oakland has 10 days to waive, trade or release Tolleson. He could be claimed by another team, or if he clears waivers, he could accept an minor league assignment from the Athletics.
