Being Called Most Improved College Football Program is Good, Right?

401904_GSporting News has labled the University of South Carolina football program as the “most improved” college football program in the last twelve months. This is a good thing right?  It is all how you spin it and for the Gamecocks fanbase, this is a good thing.

Let’s be honest, the USC football history is not lengthy in championship stories or wins in big games but it now seems the tide is turning.  Coach Spurrier has his squad rewriting a new chapter in Gamecock football history books.  Faithful fans have have waited to be in a position to win at a high level and now it is here.  Relish the moment and let’s all hope the days of mediocrity are behind and winning at a consistent pace is here to stay.

Here is what the Sporting News story says about South Carolina –

Yes, the Gamecocks still sit a few big wins, and a couple championship seasons, outside college football’s elite. But no major program has improved its position in the past 12 months as much as the Gamecocks.

South Carolina:
The school’s first SEC East Championship and a banner recruiting haul, led by the signing of defensive end Jadeveon Clowney, cancels the season’s poor finish. Quarterback Stephen Garcia remains a wild card, in every way. But the Gamecocks will enter the fall as favorites to repeat as division champs.
