Orlando Sentinel: Marcus Lattimore Is A Heisman Candidate

The Orlando Sentinel has the South Carolina running back, Marcus Lattimore, listed as one of their preseason Heisman Trophy candidates.  Along with Lattimore they have featured Stanford’s Andrew LuckOregon’s LaMichael James and Boise State’s Kellen Moore.  They still have one more name to add to their top five list.

This is really good news for Lattimore and USC.  The hype is growing, just need Lattimore to make noise in 2011 as USC wins the SEC East again.  He certainly has a strong chance and his success translates to USC’s success.

Here is what the Orlando Sentinel says about Lattimore –

Buzz: Lattimore could be the fresh new face in this year’s Heisman crowd. Lattimore’s record-setting freshman season would make him the perfect candidate for the preseason hype. The South Carolina native rushed for 1,197 yards and 17 touchdowns for the Gamecocks despite being banged-up for part of the season. He had 29 catches for 412 yards and two touchdowns as well. He bulked up in the offseason in hopes to help him finish runs this year. Next to Arkansas’ Knile Davis and Alabama’s Trent Richardson, he is the one of the top running backs in the SEC this season.
