As expected, the South Carolina’s quarterback Stephen Garcia has been reinstated to the football team for the 2011 season.
The State paper ran a report today that Stephen Garcia is fully reinstated to the Gamecocks football team. For those fans that bleed garnet, like this Gamecocks blog, this is not a surprise as most pointed to August 1st as the date he would be allowed to join the team officially.
Garcia had been on the “outs” since May 30; he was allowed to attend non-mandatory summer workouts with the rest of the Gamecocks and this was the final hurdle for him. USC begins preseason practice on Wednesday, with all players expected to report to campus on Tuesday. Welcome back Mr. Garcia, now it is time to get to work.
Whether you agree or disagree with Garcia getting many chances is not the point anymore. He is with the team and now he will be judged on how he handles this opportunity.
For Garcia this is his last stand. Time to be the man and lead the team. All the weapons are in place for the Gamecocks to win the SEC battle. He can not blame anyone and now must understand that this is his chance to shine and prove the doubters wrong. Garcia has the talent, just needs to showcase it over 14 games in 2011. In front of Garcia and the team is a chance to re-write USC’s football history and begin a new chapter. Prove that 2010 was not a joke and prove that 2011 is the year of the Gamecock.
