This year I will be voting in the Mumme Poll again. For those of you who are unfamiliar the Mumme Poll is an ongoing attempt to to find a viable method to rank college football teams absent the bias and conflicts of interest inherent in the current ranking systems. The poll was created by the guys at Get The Picture and Third Saturday in Blogtober.
The poll works by having each voter identify the top ten teams in no particular order. For tie breaking purposes a number one team is designated. Last week was the first week of the poll, but with all of the other news surrounding the program, it didn’t make it on the site. Here is this week’s ballot with explanations.
LSU (1)
Along with Alabama, they look like one of the best teams in the nation. They have a better resume than the Crimson Tide, so they get the nod for number one. They rolled over Tennessee on Rocky Top
Alabama
They keep rolling with a systematic destruction of out matched Ole Miss.
Oklahoma
They looked OK against Kansas early, but wore them down and blew them out.
Oklahoma State
They continued the state tradition of putting Texas in its place. It was a good road win for the Cowboys.
Stanford
Like many of the teams here, they took care of business like they should.
Wisconsin
They thoroughly dismantled an overmatched Indiana team.
Oregon
Ducks got a nice Top 25 win at home.
Boise State
They are cruising through the stretch of schedule against a bunch of nobodies.
Clemson
A furious comeback to beat a team that had previously been blown out by Temple is not impressive. But, they are an undefeated BCS team, so that’s why they are here.
Arkansas
Off this week.
