South Carolina Football: 3 Keys for USC’s Defense

The big match-up in the South Carolina versus Clemson game is the Clemson offense squaring off against the South Carolina defense.

Clemson ranks in the top 25 in the nation in passing offense (12th), total offense (18th) and scoring offense (21st)). But, South Carolina is in the top 15 in the nation in all of those categories on defense. The Gamecocks are second in the nation in pass defense, fifth in total defense and 15th in scoring defense. Clemson has scored 48 touchdowns this year to rank 19th in the nation, while South Carolina has allowed just 24 to rank 13th best on defense in that category.

It will be interesting to see how the Gamecocks scheme against Clemson.

Three Keys for the USC defense are:

1. Pressure the CU QB
2. Keep the tight end, Dwayne Allen, in check.
3. Don’t let Sammy Watkins be a game-changer.
