In the latest college football bowl projections, the South Carolina Gamecocks are headed to the Capital One bowl to face the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
Stewart Mandel of SI, has his latest projections HERE. There you see for yourself that the Capital One is the projected destination for USC, this had been the growing rumor throughout last week and now seems likely.
If not against Nebraska, you could see Michigan or Michigan State but most fingers point to the Huskers. The bowl has the first selection amongst teams from the Southeastern and Big Ten conferences after the BCS selects its teams.
This is a great opportunity for USC if it proves true due to the fact that the Capital One Bowl has the highest payout of any non-Bowl Championship Series game with figures being estimated at $9.2 million to be split amongst the teams. Besides the money, the other good thing about going to this bowl is the spotlight and the fact it is first selection out of the SEC.
The game will be on Jan. 2 with a kickoff slated for 1 p.m. on ESPN.
South Carolina made its one and only appearance in the Orlando, Fla.-based bowl on December 20, 1975 facing Miami (Ohio), a game they lost 20-7.
Keep those fingers crossed that this bowl rumor proves true as this could be a great match up with Nebraska.
