This time by the score of 9-6 and this Game 2 win gives USC the series.

South Carolina has defeated Clemson in 16 of the last 22 contests between the two schools dating back to the 2007 season.

The Gamecocks improve their overall record to 9-0 and look for a sweep against the CU Tigers (4-4) on Sunday.

USC got the bats going thanks to a home runs from Adam Matthews and LB Dantzler.  Those two shots, combined with strong pitching from Matt Price and Evan Beal.

The Good
Speaking of Beal, he was clutch. Beal tossed 4.0 innings and allowed two runs on three hits and one walk. He struck out five Tigers in his 72-pitch outing in which he picked up his first career victory.

The Bad
Overall, a great game but to be picky need to stop with the errors.  Also 10 Gamecocks left-on-base.  Improve those areas and the game looks much different.

The Ugly
The delayed start. Waking up on Saturday, many thought the weather was going to present problems and delay the game.  Guess Clemson thought the same and social media began to produce rumors of a later start time. During this, yes the game was set for 2 pm, all the University of South Carolina had to do is send out a confirming message to squash the rumors that the game was still set for 2pm.  Not hard but would have been nice. Only the school had the power as the “official” communicator on when the game would begin. They should have used that power early on.  I hope the lesson is learned.  We are in a social media age and once a rumor spreads it either has to be confirmed or denied due to its spread and thus impact.  USC learn the lesson and next time, use social media to make corrective action before you get to far down the road.

The series finale is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Sunday afternoon at Doug Kingsmore Stadium. The game will be broadcast live on ESPN3. The Gamecocks will send junior Colby Holmes to the mound while the Tigers will counter with right-hander Kevin Pohle.
