Former South Carolina football coach Jim Carlen passed away recently and one thing he will be remembered for is putting a beating on display against Clemson in 1975.
The Gamecocks blogging crew here at LOHD was too young to know football under Coach Carlen. He was the Gamecocks’ head coach from 1975 to 1981, when he compiled a 45-36-1 record and coached the school’s only Heisman Trophy winner, George Rogers.
