South Carolina basketball got a boost in gaining a commitment from power forward Desmond Ringer (McDonough, Ga./Eagles Landing). He is the first member of the 2013 class for Coach Frank Martin and provides USC a strong presence around the rim.
Ringer had offers from Cincinnati, Marquette, Tennessee, Charlotte, Vanderbilt, Central Florida, amongst others.
This is a solid pickup for USC as it provides a big body (6′ 9″, 265) that can bang with the best of them in the SEC. He is a typical type big man that Coach Martin likes as he can run the floor but also take up space around the rim.
The future is bright for USC basketball with kids like this. Welcome Desmond to the Gamecock family.
