Unconfirmed reports are beginning to circulate that Clowney went to sleep sometime last night and awoke Wednesday morning. Those reports, that we should stress have not been confirmed by Clowney or anyone in the athletic department, are very sketchy in details about what position Clowney slept in. It's been suggested that he used a regular bed and that he may have rolled onto his side. Others are speculating that Clowney may have slept in multiple positions and could have slept on both of his sides at different times during the night.
Rumors out of Pickens County which suggested that Clowney planned to stay up all night eating nachos and playing ping pong seem to be off base. Whatever Clowney may have planned for the evening, we are hearing that he slept. We are also hearing this is a habit he picked up long before he came to Columbia.
As far as how this news affects Clowney's injury or his commitment to the team, we don't yet know. Perhaps we can get some confirmation from one of the players or coaches after the team's practice today.
We are almost certain that Clowney had zero sacks last night and no tackles for a loss. People who saw Clowney last night are noting that he looked tired before he went to bed, adding more credence to the theory that Clowney is out of shape and vastly overrated.
UPDATE 1: There are now reports that other players on Carolina's football team also went to sleep last night and woke this morning. In what can only be described as a nightmare scenario for Gamecocks everywhere, it appears many, if not all, of the players are falling into Clowney's habits. It could very well be that the entire team is looking forward to the NFL.
We'll continue to watch this story unfolds, and then take snippets of incomplete information and jump to wild conclusions of questionable probability.
