South Carolina Football: Angelo Watley Arrested, Suspended

Disappointing news out of the South Carolina football camp as news has broke that middle linebacker Angelo Watley was arrested on Sunday on three charges. Per University policy, Watley has been suspended from all football-related activities.

Watley was charged with Grand Larceny of goods that value more than $2,000 but less than $10,000. He was also charged with Financial Transaction Card Theft and Violent Burglary in the second degree. He has a $50,000 bond.

Pretty serious charges facing this young man who has made a bad decision. Bad part is this is not his first run-in with the Police.  He was arrested on July 3, 2011 in Gwinnett County and charged with six counts of terroristic threats and acts.

Watley signed with USC in 2011 and redshirted last season. He was expected to get some reps this Spring but now that is clouded in doubt pending the outcome of the latest brush with the “po-po.”

Yes, we are a firm believer in the notion of innocent until proven guilty but the reality is this does not look good for him given the recent charges compounded on what occurred less than one year ago.

We hope that Mr. Watley can get his life right.  Sad situation as he has talent but made a bad choice (twice).
