2011 SEC Basketball Power Poll: Week One Ballot

SECPOWERPOLL2008
With the start of the Southeastern Conference Basketball games, so to begins the 2011 SEC Basketball Power Poll.  This is week one and this blog has been chosen to participate once again.  Each week we will bring you our view on who we feel is the best in the SEC.

Please look to the bottom left on this screen to see the SEC Basketball Power Poll Voters in 2011.

Here is our week one ballot –

1.  Florida – The Gators are scrappy and are lead by a nice trio – Walker, Parsons and Boynton – that will ensure UF hangs around the top of the SEC for much of the year.
2. Georgia – The Dawgs have bite in 2011 and I am not talking about the football team.  Led by Thompkins they beat UK and should continue to make noise in the SEC.
3. Kentucky – The ‘Cats got bitten by the ‘Dawgs but they will bounce back and should make a run at SEC glory in 2011.
4. Arkansas – Best in the West but that does not say a lot.
5. Ole Miss – Warren and Graham should ensure the Rebels give a run at the West crown.
6. South Carolina – Ranked here due to beating Vandy.  Will the super play continue?  Can Ellington and Muldrow play like that each night in the SEC?
7. Vanderbilt – Shocked by the Cocks but team is too good to be held down.  VU will bounce back and give SEC foes troblue.
8. Tennessee – Team has multiple personalities but when they bring their ‘A’ game they could beat anyone.  Just which team shows up each night is the question.
9. Alabama – Green and Mitchell are the two primary players on the team.  Is it enough to carry the Tide for a SEC run?
10. LSU – Beat Auburn but so could a church league team.
11.  Mississippi State – We know they can fight but can they hang in the SEC?
12. Auburn – Can Cam Newton play basketball?  This team is simply bad.

So that is my ranking after the first week.  The East is where the power lies.  Expect this to change in the future as we begin to see what some of these teams are all about now that SEC basketball is here.
