Alabama Puts a Nail in the South Carolina Basketball Coffin

horm_clapThe 2011-2012 South Carolina men’s basketball season is over. The Alabama Crimson Tide defeated the Gamecocks by the score of 63-57 at the 2012 SEC Tournament in New Orleans, La., held in the New Orleans Arena on Thursday.

USC had their chance but just like every other game, the Gamecocks could not muster up enough effort to overcome the opposing team.  South Carolina got good play from freshman guard Damien Leonard and sophomore guard Brenton Williams, both with 13 points in the contest. Bruce Ellington added 11 points, all in the second half. But in saying that, it was not enough.

Alabama played a great game with their freshman guard Trevor Lacey dropping 15 points and JaMychal Green adding 12 points and seven rebounds.

USC got into foul troblue and just come not stop the Tide. Not much else to say really.  The loss ends the misery of the season.

The Gamecocks end the season with just 10 wins (21 losses). The football team won 11 games.  That says it all as there is no way to spin that.
