Gamecocks Basketball Loses LaShay Page For Season

From this day forward, the South Carolina men's basketball program will be without guard LaShay Page. The young man has been ruled out for the season due to a "academic eligibility issue."

This is a blow to USC and means that the other guards must step up their level of play to make up for the 11.7 points a game that Page had averaged.

With Bruce Ellington set to return to the team, this means that it is incumbent upon him to seize the moment. Eric Smith and Brenton Williams are the other two guards that could reap the rewards of the loss of Page but it is likely someone like Ellington due to the style of play he can bring. Look for Coach Frank Martin to have that "we need ya" talk to Ellington.

Bottom line, the loss of Page hurts and now time to see how the team responds. In his absence, they survived but now it is time to thrive. Hopefully, Page lands on his feet nicely in the next chapter of his life and USC can continue to win some games.
