Is this a surprise or an afterthought? South Carolina Gamecocks senior guard Devan Downey has been named a unanimous selection to the 2010 Associated Press All-SEC First Team, as announced by the organization on Monday.
Devan Downey ends his career with 1,901 points fourth all-time in USC history. He became South Carolina’s first-ever SEC scoring champion this season with 26.2 points per game in league play. Downey also finishes first in field goals attempted (1,634), in steals (277) and steals per game (3.0).
Too bad we cannot see him for one more game. Feel like the Alabama loss in the SEC Tourney was a heartbreaker and not the appropriate curtain call for this Gamecock.
With Devan being named to the AP 1st Team, he becomes only the second Gamecock basketballer besides BJ McKie to be named to the first team three separate times.
