SEC Basketball Power Poll 2012: Week Ending 2/5/12

This South Carolina Gamecocks blog joins forces with other SEC bloggers to vote in the SEC Basketball Power Poll.

Here are is our ballot for the week ending Feb. 5, 2012:

  SECPOWERPOLL2008

1. Kentucky Wildcats

Best team top to bottom and made USC look silly the other night.

2. Florida Gators

Playing strong team basketball and their ingredients for success are coming together right now.

3. Mississippi St. Bulldogs

If they could improve their defense then they could go from good to very good.

4. Vanderbilt Commodores

Vanderbilt is strong but needs to improve around the basket.  If they do that, then they could make a deep run come tourney time.

5. Arkansas Razorbacks

Hogs got bitten by the LSU Tigers.  No business doing that.

6. Alabama Crimson Tide

Last week was bad for the Bama boys.  Erase from memory and get back to playing solid basketball.

7. Mississippi Rebels

Team is improving but can they sustain it as the important part of the season is lurking.

8. Tennessee Volunteers

Time to settle for NIT…

9. LSU Tigers

Must prove beating Arky was not a joke. That could be tough.

10. Auburn Tigers

Not the worst SEC team any longer.  But what does that mean…

11. Georgia Bulldogs

These ‘Dawgs have no bite.

12. South Carolina Gamecocks

Making USC fans think about baseball season starting soon.
