The South Carolina Gamecocks football squad is still at it in preparing to defend their SEC East crown this fall.  USC’s spring practices is now halfway finished and let’s recap some of the things that have gone on from spring practice days 5-7 and in the scrimmage –

Here are some notes on the recent practices…
—Spurrier confirmed Thursday that USC point guard Bruce Ellington will be joining the football team in June.
—Damario Jeffery has moved from Spur to “Will” linebacker and it seems set for him to be there going forward.
—USC believes it’s now got the talent to fill strong and free safety two-deep. Newcomer Brison Williams, who also enrolled in January, is up for that spot with sophomore Corey Addison and others who are also working at free safety. Greenwood native D.J. Swearinger returns at that spot, but Ward’s hoping Martay Mattox can compete with redshirt freshman Sharrod Golightly for No. 2.
—Akeem Auguste is playing opposite All-SEC performer Stephon Gilmore at cornerback, players like redshirt freshmen Victor Hampton and Cadarious Sanders are competing with lettermen C.C. Whitlock and Jimmy Legree for two-deep position.
—Two players changed positions on Thursday. Redshirt freshman Corey Robinson moved from the offensive line to the defensive line, while junior Kenny Davis went from defensive line to the offensive line. Robinson will switch from jersey 53 to 94, while Davis goes from number 94 to 72.
— Also Chaun Gresham is getting looks at TE.
— OL Ronald Patrick will miss the rest of the spring after having surgery Thursday for an abscess behind his right eye, at the base of his brain.
— DeVonte Holloman, who has moved this spring from strong safety to spur linebacker.

The Gamecocks held their first offical scrimmage on Saturday and finally the offense showed up.
