39 was the most pass attempts for a Gamecocks quarterback last season. There was once a time under Steve Spurrier when the USC running game was so anemic that the passing game had to take center stage. That formula worked some of the time, but more often than not it was a losing proposition.
Connor Shaw threw the ball 39 times against Kentucky last season. He completed 26 of those passes for 311 yards and 4 touchdowns. He didn’t have an incompletion. It was important for him to have a good game since Steven Garcia had just left the team. Since that game he has steadily grown and improved and should be fun to watch the next two years.
