49 was the total number of receptions for Alshon Jeffery last season. It was a tremendous drop from his previous season when he caught 88 passes. The decrease in production didn’t have anything to do with Alshon. The offense changed, and he was asked to block more an catch less. It would be a difficult request to ask of many elite receivers, but Jeffery mad the transition without complaint. When people talk about great receivers at South Carolina, they should remember the way Jeffery traded personal acclaim for team success.
