73 is the largest margin of victory by the Gamecocks in the modern era. On September 13, 1980 South Carolina stomped poor Wichita State 73-0. Coach Jim Carlen tried to keep the score down. He used 90 different players, including one who came out of the stands. George Rogers had only 108 yards on 10 carries in large part because he was pulled in the first half.
