Shawn Elliott Bleeds Garnet, Snubs Florida

South Carolina offensive line coach, Shawn Elliott, has reportedly turned down overtures from the University of Florida to coach the same position for the Gators.

Elliott will begin his third season with the Gamecocks this fall after joining USC in Jan. 2010 after a stint at Appalachian State.  Along with his O-line duties, he is also the run game coordinator.  According to sources like AM-560 and other sites, the Gators wanted him badly as they were set to pay Coach Elliott in the 350k – 400k level for his services. But….he said no thanks as his heart bleeds garnet.

This is huge news for USC and shows his true colors while giving you a perspective on this great person, meaning money is not all he is after. That my firends is hard to find in today’s college football landscape as generally money can move mountains yet not this one.  Coach Elliott knows he has a good thing going at USC with a lot invested in many young men not to mention helping define a “New Carolina.”

Coach Elliott is truly a great coach and it is great to know that he will be sticking around the program.
