South Carolina football fans can breathe easier now that recruiting coordinator / receivers coach Steve Spurrier Jr. and offensive line coach Shawn Elliott withdrew their names from consideration for the head coaching job at Coastal Carolina.
This is welcomed news as both are vital blocking blocks for success within the football program. Spurrier Jr.’s role as recruiting coordinator is important at this time given the increased exposure due to success of the football team plus the stability he brings after losing Shane Beamer. Elliott, well anyone who knows USC football knows he has done amazing this at USC in his short tenure with the O line.
Both will make great head coaches in the future but they made the right choice in sticking around USC for awhile.
