The college football season is coming down from the halfway point and there is lots of football to be played. There seems to be some clear favorites when you talk about the Heisman especially now that our guy, Marcus Lattimore, is out.
Here are this week’s top three:
Andrew Luck, QB, Stanford
Andrew Luck continues to impress despite the hype. The junior threw for 336 yards and four touchdowns as the Cardinal extended the nation’s longest winning streak to a school-record 14 games. Luck is now 26-5 as a starter and has two huge games looming with Oregon and Notre Dame. For the season, he is 129 of 181 passing for 1,719 yards, 18 TDs and 3 INTs.
Russell Wilson, QB, Wisconsin
Russell Wilson has all the right tools, heck he caught a 25-yard touchdown pass from running back Montee Ball on a trick play in Wisconsin’s 59-7 win over Indiana. Thus far he has put up the following silly stats – 95 of 128 passing for 1,557 yards, 14 TDs and 1 INT; 24 rushes for 182 yards and 2 TDs; 1 catch for 25 yards and 1 TD. Now here comes the big game with Michigan State.
Trent Richardson, RB, Alabama
He has a winning team, has the stats, TV exposure and plays in the best conference in college football…he has the recipe for a Heisman trophy. He has had 132 rush attempts that has produced 912 rushing yards and 15 TDs. He also has had 15 catches for 179 receiving yards and 1 TD in the passing game.
