Former Gamecock Cory Boyd Selected a All-Star in CFL for Toronto

Former Gamecocks running back Cory Boydis making the most out of his playing days in the Canadian Football League (CFL) for the Toronto Argonauts.  This season he has his teamed primed for a playoff run while he too is having a stellar season running the ball.

The Argos will face the Hamilton Tiger-Cats (Ticats) on Sunday at Ivor Wynne Stadium in the Canadian Football League’s East Division semifinal and Cory Boyd will be looked to for a impact.  Most will tell you, who follow the CFL, is if the Argos are to win this game, it means Boyd has to have a very good game running the ball.

Boyd, the CFL’s leading rusher until he sat out the final game of the season to rest for a playoff run, is having a all-star season – literally.  He is a CFL West All-Star selection for 2010 (full list here).

Cory Boyd’s stats are really good as he has 1,359 rushing yards on 226 attempts with six touchdowns.  He also has 38 receptions for 363 yards and two touchdowns.

As a South Carolina fan who wintessed the potential Boyd has, he is a talented running back with a huge heart and it is nice to see him finding success in the CFL.  His new found success in the CFL has to have many NFL teams taking notice and hopefully he gets a shot again soon.
