Gamecocks Baseball: Back-to-Back National Champs

South Carolina beat Florida by the score of 5-2 to earn back-to-back College World Series titles for the first time since Oregon State in 2006-07.

Repeat that – Gamecocks are National Champions AGAIN.

Doesn’t that just roll off the tongue in such a amazing way.  As a fan that bleeds garnet, this is so special in so many ways.  Just knowing that the team this blog loves not only won the crown last season but rose to the challenge in 2011 and did it again.  Hats off to Ray Tanner, Jerry Myers and Chad Holbrook for keeping the team on the path towards the season-ending goal.  High five to the entire team for never quitting, taking the challenges in stride and keeping their eye on the prize.

The Gamecocks (55-14) not only are the first to repeat since the Beavers but they made their mark on the NCAA record book by winning their 16th consecutive tournament game and by winning their 11th consecutive CWS game.

Damn it feels good to be a Gamecock.  If you see a Clemson fan today, just hold up two fingers rather than the usual one (you know what I’m talking about).

More on this later but for now enjoy Gamecock fans….
