Gamecocks Baseball: Third Place Finish in SEC Predicted

The defending college baseball National Champions, South Carolina, will take the field on February 18th against Santa Clara.  The game is set for 3pm in Columbia but before we dive into a season preview, we found it interesting that a site we read for collegiate baseball news, College Baseball Daily, has our beloved Gamecocks projected to finish in third place in the SEC in 2011.  Seems a bit low.  Could stomach a second place prediction as that is where they finished in 2010 and UF is really strong but third?

They do predict USC to be part of the NCAA tourney in 2011 and project Jackie Bradley as the “top position player.”

Read their SEC East projection – HERE.

Here is their predicted finish:
1. Florida *
2. Vanderbilt *
3. South Carolina *
4. Kentucky *
5. Georgia
6. Tennessee
* NCAA Tourney Participant

Projected Top Pitcher: Sonny Gray (Vanderbilt)
Projected Top Position Player: Jackie Bradley Jr. (South Carolina)
Projected Top Freshman: Karsten Whitson (Florida)
