Georgia’s athletic director, Damon Evans, was arrested and charged with Driving under the Influence in Atlanta last night.
Evans played football at Georgia some years ago and succeeded legendary athletic director Vince Dooley. He has presided over a prosperous period in Georgia athletics bring in boatloads of money. He had better hope he brought in enough to outweigh this public embarrassment.
Georgia is due to release a statement sometime today but has not done so yet. I wouldn’t expect more than a generic, uninformative statement.
