Since our beloved Gamecocks took a early exit from the SEC Tourney a few days back, we have been waiting for play to conclude and regional host venues to be announced. I feel certain that USC will be selected a host city for the “Road to Omaha.” The question lies in who will join Carolina in Columbia?
SEbaseball.com has put forth a daily regional forecast for the last few days and here is what they predict. Do note that they feel that USC will be the #7 seed overall. I hope they are right as that would put the Gamecocks in good shape.
1. South Carolina (SEC at large) 43-15 #16
4. Rhode Island (A-10 Automatic*) 30-25 #175
2. College of Charleston (SoCon at large) 42-16 #26
3. NC State (ACC at large) 37-20 #48
This was paired with the GT Yellow Jackets Regional for the Super Regional match-up. And USC being a national seed would host that occurence.
1. South Carolina (SEC at large)
4. VCU (CAA Automatic*)
2. The Citadel (SoCon Automatic*)
3. North Carolina (ACC at large)
This was paired with the TCU Regional. Interesting there.
GamecockCentral (rivals site) predicts when the 64-team NCAA Tourney bracket is revealed Monday at 12:30 p.m., here is how they believe the Columbia Regional will line up:
1. South Carolina;
2. North Carolina;
3. College of Charleston;
4. Liberty.
LOHD predicts –
- South Carolina
- Citadel
- NC State
- Mercer
Someone is bound to be right and wrong on the above. Just hoping for a national seed today as the regional location seems to be locked up for SC. Don’t forget that the 16 NCAA Regional host sites will be announced today at approximately 3:30 p.m. on ncaa.com/CWS. Plus we will keep you posted so check back with us….
