Wright State’s Brad Brownell to be Named Clemson’s Basketball Coach

Internet is beginning to buzz this morning over the speculation that Wright State’s Brad Brownell will be named the Clemson Tigers Head Basketball Coach today at a press conference to announce this hire to take over where former Coach Purnell left off after leaving for DePaul.

WSPA has this story up – HERE – indicating that Brownell was talked with Clemson for a second time on Monday after MSU’s Stansbury said “no thanks.”  Gary Parrish on his blog also says that Clemson has Brad Brownell in their sights – HERE.

Brownell has been at WSU the last 5 seasons, winning 20 games in each of those years after posting 4 straight 20-win seasons at UNC-Wilmington. He’s been to the Dance 3 times, losing all 3 in the 1st round.  Seems to know the “X’s” and “O’s” as well as a good recruiter who knows the area after his stint at UNC-W.

After his second discussion yesterday, the buzz is that he said yes to the offer and there could be a press conference today on this subject in Clemson, SC so stay tuned as it seems Terry Don has his man…..Thoughts on this potential hire?
