Three USC pitchers combined for another shutout, and South Carolina improved to 4-0 with a 4-0 win over Presbyterian.
The Gamecocks sent Curt Britt to the mound to face the Blue Hose. Britt was in and out of trouble all afternoon but didn’t allow any runs in 5 1/3 innings of work. He was relieved by freshman Josh Reagan, who picked up the win. Cody Mincey finished off the game.
Offensively Carolina struggled for most of the afternoon. In the sixth Connor Bright doubled in a run. An inning later Kyle Martin had a three run home run. Those runs would be the sum of Carolina’s offense for the day.
For most of the afternoon it looked like Carolina might take a bad loss as PC continued to put runners on base and USC continued to have little offense. Those fears were unfounded it would seem. PC isn’t an Omaha team, but if this team wins the ones they’re supposed to, that bodes well for their long term success.
