Pharoh Cooper is the Real Deal

The South Carolina Gamecocks held a scrimmage yesterday as they continue to build towards their showdown with Texas A&M. One bright spot from the scrimmage was the play of wide receiver Pharoh Cooper. He had a two catches for 80 yards and a touchdown.

Those stats may not excite you but it shows that the offense has lots options at wide out to go with a strong run game. This is exactly what USC needs as most teams will attempt to slow Mike Davis and the overall run game. Everyone knows Shaq Roland is primed for a big season and having a speedy, wide out like Cooper is a welcomed sight.

Last season, Bruce Ellington was the answer and helped the passing game in clutch situations. Can Cooper be “that guy” this season? If the scrimmage is a predictor then look for Cooper to have a big year as he is the “real deal.” He has good hands, speed and fights for every yard. Just want the Gamecocks need as they march towards SEC glory in 2014.
