Gamecocks Football Recruiting: Chaz Elder Commits

South Carolina got a verbal commiment from defensive back Chaz Elder (College Park, Ga./Banneker) during the live broadcast of the Under Armour All-American game on ESPN.

Elder chose the Gamecocks over Georgia. He also had offers from Arkansas, Auburn, Clemson, Louisville, LSU, Ole Miss, North Carolina, Ohio State, Purdue, and Vanderbilt.

The 6-foot-1, 185-pounder is a three-star prospect according to 247Sports and has an 88 rating. He finished his junior season with 83 tackles, two interceptions, and six pass breakups.  He is the 22nd commiment in the 2012 class.

After the decision of Stephon Gilmore to go pro, this was a key pickup for the 2012 recruiting cycle.
