South Carolina picked up a commitment from three-star defensive end David Johnson (Lithonia, Ga.).
The 6-foot-1, 253-pounder chose the Gamecocks over the likes of: Vanderbilt, Ole Miss, Auburn and a host of others.
He is verbal commitment No. 10 for South Carolina in the 2013 class. The USC staff plans on utilizing him similar to how Melvin Ingram was in Columbia, as a hybrid defensive lineman.
Last season, he was in on 81 tackles with 10 tackles for loss and 3 sacks. Most recruiting services have him rated as a 3-star recruit.
This defensive end is a great pick-up for USC as this young man has a high motor and will progress under the USC system. He played a little fullback and linebacker, along with his end spot in high school.
